Disney World is changing a lot these days. Three of the four theme parks are undergoing major renovations, and a new CEO is about to take charge of the company.

Throughout these changes, Disney is feeling a little bit like our parents lately. They’re changing the way the house looks (A LOT), and they’re giving us new rules all the time. As if that wasn’t enough, Disney is also enforcing 5 curfews in 2026.

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

We’re feeling like rebellious teenagers lately. That’s right, we want to stay out late and party the night away, but our parents (Disney World theme parks) have hit us with curfews that are really throwing off our groove. First is the transportation curfew.

Disney World Bus

Disney World offers free transportation for guests staying on property, like buses, boats, the monorail, and the Skyliner. We love this free transportation; it’s one of our favorite parts of staying on property. If you’re out late, though, you’re out of luck! Disney’s free transportation has a cutoff time after the parks close. You have roughly one hour after the park’s closing time to hop aboard your chosen mode of transfer, and if you miss it — tough luck!

Skyliner

Sure, we understand that Cast Members can’t be out driving all night, so this is a curfew we understand. That being said, we have been burned by this curfew a time or two. If you find yourself without a bus or skyliner in sight, you will need to pay for a ride share option like Uber or Lyft. Luckily, these fees aren’t too high if you’re on Disney property.

The next curfew we’re sick of is that Disney has a cut-off time for dining options around the park! Late-night dining in Disney World is few and far between these days. Most resorts have some sort of quick service option or dining for guests to indulge in once their time at the parks is over. That being said, a lot of these dining options close by 11 PM at the absolute latest.

Disney food courts

For example, if you’re staying at All Star Movies, your option is the World Premiere Food Court. This quick service closes at 11 PM at the time of writing, but that is typically the latest you’ll see a hotel quick service open. 11 PM doesn’t feel that early, sure. That being said, Magic Kingdom can often close at 11 PM. If you don’t eat in the park, by the time you return to your resort, you are out of luck and hungry.

We just need a burger!

There are a few dining options around Disney World, like Trader Sam’s Grogg Grotto or Dahlia Lounge, that serve food until at least midnight. There are a few quick services with a late-night menu, like Capt. Cook’s, but it’s important to know that’s pretty limited. We know most people aren’t eating at midnight, so we understand this one. We think.

Even Lightning Lanes have a curfew in the parks! Disney’s paid skip-the-line service gives you a return time window for your Multi Pass or Single Pass that gives you an hour to go and ride the attraction of your choice.

We really appreciate how much time Lightning Lanes can save us, but you can’t just go to a ride whenever you want. (Unless you’re using Lightning Lane Premier Pass, which is significantly more expensive). If you miss your window, we have tested exactly how long the park’s grace period is. We have been able to return almost 2 hours late to our return time and still be let in (almost) each time we’ve tried it. You could say this one is a loose curfew. We also (unfortunately) understand that they need some sort of crowd control, and Lightning Lane return times help prevent rides from becoming overrun with guests trying to all skip the lines at once.

Back to food curfews, even Disney World Dining Reservations have a cut-off time! That’s right, you’ve been waiting for months for your Advanced Dining Reservation, but you were late, and sadly, out of luck. If you’re dining at a table service or lounge that you made a reservation for, you have a 15-minute grace period if you’re running a little late around the resort.

If you happen to miss that 15-minute grace period, you will be charged $10 per person on the reservation. Don’t take this lightly, we have been charged for missing before! If you are still trying to make it to your reservation but you know you’ll be late, the best practice is to call the restaurant or message Guest Relations on the my Disney Experience app to see if any adjustments can be made.

They will do their best to accommodate you, but they can’t always make exceptions, especially if the restaurant is super busy, which we understand. Finally, Disney has been strict on enforcing character line curfews lately.

Meet-and-greet queue

Character meet-and-greets are some of the most popular forms of entertainment in Disney World. From classic characters to new faces on the block, these characters can see some pretty long lines. As the time for the meet and greet gets close to ending, if the line is too long, Cast Members will often cut it off before the characters go inside.

Hi there, Mickey!

Oftentimes, Cast Members will wait as long as they can to end the lines, but they will have to add that curfew if necessary. This is why we recommend going at the start of a meet and greet time and not waiting until the very end. You might just miss saying hi to your favorite character! This is another cerfew that we honestly understand.

Unfortunately, like most unruly teenagers, if we really think about it, these curfews are for everyone’s best interest. (Except the late-night food thing! Mom let us eat!)
