In case you didn’t know it, April 21st is National Tea Day, and you know what? We take tea VERY seriously here at Magical Guides.

Afternoon Tea Service
Now that Garden View Tea Lounge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort has reopened with a new look AND a new menu, we can’t tell you just how impressed we were with the afternoon tea service there (and you can bet, we’ll be going back for it AGAIN AND AGAIN). The teas are delicious, the Alice in Wonderland-themed foods are WONDER-ful (see what we did there?), and the service is impeccable. So let’s talk about our afternoon tea experience.
Now, if you want to read our full review of the afternoon tea service at Garden View Tea Lounge, you can do that here. But right now, we just want to talk about some of the highlights of our afternoon tea. To start, afternoon tea is $79 per adult and $49 per child (aged 3 to 9).

The menu
It feels SO special. The atmosphere makes the entire service feel lavish. Then you’ve got some amazing service. Cast Members are so knowledgeable about the teas and can really help you pick which ones to try out. After they bring out some rose-scented towels to wash your hands, they’ll also bring out the teas so you can smell them and then offer you their best recommendations on which ones you might enjoy.

Twinings Loose Leaf Teas
So what do you get with the tea? You get a choice of Twinings Loose Leaf tea selections, and an Afternoon Tea Tower piled high with Alice in Wonderland-inspired small bites and treats.

Before all that, though, you get Cranberry-Orange Scones with Whipped Butter, Orange Marmalade, and Devonshire Cream. The Devonshire cream is SO creamy and heavenly, but even just the butter and orange marmalade are delicious!

So what were our favorite small bites on the tower? Well, we loved them all! But we really loved the Curried Chicken Salad Playing Card Tart, both because it tastes, but the presentation is A+! You also get the Footman’s Feast (a Wonderland Salmon Crisp with a salmon rillette on a miso brown butter crisp), Tweedledee Egg Salad Sandwich (a traditional egg salad on beet bread), and Caterpillar Cucumber Roll (a combination of butterfly pea-infused cream cheese and cucumbers on pumpernickel).

Okay, let’s talk about the sweet bites on the tower because, honestly, they were all big hits with us, too. The Matcha Mad Hatter is a sponge cake with apricot jam and yuzu buttercream, and how could we not love it? LOOK AT IT. This is probably our favorite because of the presentation, but also the unique flavors it brought to the tower. Other sweet treats include the Tea Party Tart (a vanilla tart, coffee custard, and chantilly cream), the Flamingo Croquet Choux (choux filled with passion fruit cream and raspberry crunch), and Painting the Rose, which is an Earl Grey-flavored teacake painted tableside.

You can even pay a little extra and indulge in something like Seasonal Cheese Selection, which you KNOW we had to get, because if you know us, we LOVE US SOME CHEESE.

Okay, so the most IMPORTANT thing you need to know about is the tea, because this is, after all, an afternoon tea service. There are so many delicious teas available, and you’ll be sure to find the perfect one with the help of your server. Our faves were the Orangery of Lady Grey Tea…

…and Lemongrass & Peppermint Tea, which is an herbal tea. All three were perfectly brewed and tasted lovely.

But that’s not all. You can also get some non-alcoholic tea-based drinks, like the Curiosi-TEA Refresher, which is made with herbal tea, meaning it’s good for the kids (especially as it doesn’t have caffeine).

But, wait! There’s more! You can also get some delicious tea-based cocktails. We tried a few, but our favorite was the Mar-TEA-Ni, and seriously, what’s not to love? It has such a great combination of flavors. Isn’t it nice that you can enjoy afternoon tea with something a little boozy, too?

Overall, we absolutely enjoyed our experience at the Garden View Tea Lounge, and we think if you’re looking to do something a little different in Disney World, this could be a great option. It’s also a great idea for any kind of special occasion, but it’s also perfect for making you feel a little extra special on what would normally be a regular day. Sometimes, it’s just fun to sit and sip on the tea, you know?
We’ll keep you updated about other restaurants in Disney World, so stay tuned to Magical Guides for more.
