Universal is gearing up for major developments in its theme parks, including the upcoming opening of its third park at Universal Orlando—Epic Universe.
Universal is also planning a family-friendly park in Texas called Universal Kids Resort. Moreover, they're set to debut a massive horror-themed attraction in Las Vegas soon, with tickets already available. But here's the real buzz: Universal might be planning something huge around the hit movie Wicked. Mark Woodbury, CEO of Universal Destinations & Experiences, hinted at the possibility during a chat with the New York Times, suggesting that Wicked could inspire a new park or land.
Woodbury expressed excitement about the potential for a Wicked inspired space, stating, “This is a theme park waiting to happen." A temporary Wicked experience recently took place at Universal Orlando, featuring character meet-and-greets and themed treats, possibly as a test for demand.
With available land at Epic Universe for future expansions, could we see a new Wicked realm in the land of Oz? Such an addition could certainly elevate Universal's competition against Disney's theme parks, especially considering the legacy of The Wizard of Oz.
