Disney Cruise Line offers a great vacation alternative for those who prefer a more relaxed experience than a busy day at Disney Parks. Rather than rushing around, securing Lightning Lanes, or stressing over dining reservations, you can unwind by the pool, explore Castaway Cay or Lighthouse Point, and let your kids enjoy safe, fun times at the children's clubs. There are, however, a few drawbacks to cruising, and this is just part of why we sometimes can't have nice things.
One lounge on Disney Cruise Line's newest ship is the Scat Cat Lounge, themed around the 1970s classic film The Aristocats. With details like a door handle inspired by Scat Cat's instrument, and hidden images of Roquefort, this lounge captures the film's charm. Among various drinks offered, only one comes with a keepsake cup—the $130 Cat's Meow. This steep price is partly due to past issues with theft. On ships like the Disney Wish, the $20 Sweet Nightingale drink, served in a bird-shaped glass, was often stolen.
Disney can't comb through passengers' luggage or review every security tape, so they decided to include the glass's cost in the drink's price to curb theft. Offering a drink with or without the glass isn’t effective since some guests would still find ways to take the glass.
