Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disney World is now closed for a major refurbishment and won't be reopening for about a year. It's definitely a letdown for visitors this year, but this significant update shows Disney's commitment to enhancing the ride experience. We've already seen some work underway and heard whispers about a possible 2026 reopening. The question is, what will be different?

Expect a smoother ride with a new track, courtesy of Coastal Steel, known for their roller coaster expertise. You'll also enjoy a refreshed view, with a new Cars expansion and a Villains area changing the landscape around Frontierland. Disney has promised some new magic, potentially with new effects and lighting. Hopefully, they bring some amazing projection effects like the ones at Disneyland.

While it's unclear what all the changes will be, you can be sure Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will have a new vibe when it reopens. Imagine the possibilities! What updates would you like to see? Share your thoughts!
