We've eagerly awaited updates at this low-profile spot in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it's finally happening!

“The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure”, a revamped version of the “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” show, is officially launching on May 27th. While the show won't open for a bit, we've had an early peek to share with you all!

Having been closed since 2020, "The Voyage of the Little Mermaid" is now replaced by this brand new attraction. Inspired by the iconic animated classic, "The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure" adheres to the original 1989 film rather than the live-action remake.

The updated show includes favorites like “Part of Your World,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” and “Kiss the Girl.” As you enter the theater, a holding room provides relief from standing outside. The setting transports you aboard a shipwreck while featuring ADA-compliant seating both front and back.

The storyline mirrors the classic we all love, focused on Ariel and Eric, who's performed live by two actors, while other characters are cleverly portrayed using puppets. Ariel's character is rigged on a mechanical arm, lending a truly mermaid-like feel as she never touches the ground.

While the puppet work—especially with Sebastian—is top-notch, we felt Ursula could've packed a bigger punch. Her animatronic appearance, combined with extensive use of screens throughout the show, feels less immersive than we'd hoped.

We appreciate seeing something back in the theater. It’s a great place to relax and escape the heat, but it’s not a must-see. We wouldn't recommend prioritizing it over other attractions with a Lightning Lane pass.

What are your thoughts on this new addition? Will it make your must-see list on your next visit to Disney's Hollywood Studios?
