If you’ve visited Universal Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando, you’ve probably experienced the thrilling — and WET — ride known as Jurassic Park River Adventure, a water-based flume ride that takes you through Jurassic Park where you come face to face with dinosaurs…and an 85-foot plunge into the water.
Jurassic Park River Adventure
Well, that ride closed in January for a massive refurbishment, and we’ve been keeping up with construction progress ever since. Now, we’ve got some new progress to share with you, thanks to some new aerial photographs.
The last time we saw an update on work at the ride, the Ultrasaurus neck had finally been replaced, while one of the boats had returned to the area. There was also new wall construction happening at the paddock area of the ride, while roofing was being updated on the ride’s entrance.

So what’s been going on since then? New photos by @bioreconstruct show continued work being done on the ride. In the paddock area, we can see another exterior board for the paddock walls that’s currently being themed.

We also have a closer look at the refurbishment work being done on the massive dinosaur, which will be getting new character animation. This guy is GINORMOUS (and terrifying!)

Here’s a video that lets you see all of the construction project. It’s also a reminder of just how MASSIVE this ride really is and how much space it takes up in Universal Orlando.
Construction on Jurassic Park River Adventure is expected to be completed by November 19th. The project is about halfway through now, and it does look like things are coming along well, though. Still, November seems so far away, and well, we know these opening dates can change.
Jurassic Park River Adventure
In the meantime, if you’re wanting to get a similar log flume ride experience, you can also visit Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls. You can also still ride other rides in Jurassic Park, including Jurassic World VelociCoaster and Pteranodon Flyers.
Dudley Do-Right’s RipSaw Falls
We’ll keep an eye out for more updates about this ride closure and more, so stay tuned to Magical Guides for more.
