2026 is going to be full of LOTS of construction for Disney World, and that goes for multiple parks, hotels, and beyond.
Cinderella Castle
Magic Kingdom has TWO lands under construction, Disney’s Hollywood Studios has one entire land incoming, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is about to undergo a massive retheme, Animal Kingdom‘s DinoLand to Tropical Americas really ramps up, multiple hotels have construction projects in progress, and we can’t wait for LEVEL99 to arrive in Disney Springs. Despite all that, there’s a NEW construction project happening on Main Street, U.S.A. that may just take the top spot for 2026, because Cinderella Castle is being repainted!
At Destination D23 in August 2025, Disney announced that Cinderella Castle would be repainted to its original white and blue design, and the pink from the park’s 50th Anniversary will be going away. In the middle of December, right before Christmas, Disney confirmed that the castle’s makeover would begin in January 2026.
Cinderella Castle
The first step will be draining the moat around the castle, and then the repainting will begin. However, if you’re worried about getting photos in front of the castle without cranes in the way, all you’ll have to do is wait until midday, as the cranes will be down no later than 12 PM (noon) each day. While we don’t have a completion date just yet, it’s expected to be completed later in 2026.
Cinderella Castle (2018)
We know lots of Disney fans are very excited for this change, as blue and white/gray are much more associated with Cinderella, but there are lots of Disney guests who are bummed to see the pink go. However, we’re looking forward to seeing how different the projections on the castle will look during nighttime shows, as it’s expected that they will show up better on the white/gray than the pink.
