Most folks hear "Disney World" and think: likely crowded, probably hot, and definitely not cheap. While it may not be the most budget-friendly vacation, there truly is something magical about a trip to Disney.

Magic Kingdom

Yes, Disney can be pricey, but there are ways to save while still having a blast! One favorite yet underappreciated activity is resort hopping, often completely free and tons of fun.

Plan a day to explore the resorts! It's more relaxed, but you can still see plenty, as Disney World boasts over 30 hotels. Resort hopping is super easy and cost-free, especially if you start at Disney Springs, where parking is free. From there, take any resort bus that catches your fancy.

Check out the resorts spontaneously by boarding the first available bus, or plan using a fun method like a random number generator. Don’t overlook other transport options like the Skyliner or monorail.

Research your chosen hotel’s offerings on the way or keep it a surprise! Whether you marvel at the architecture or engage in various activities like painting, crafting, or enjoying diverse dining and shopping options, there's so much to do.

Each hotel offers unique activities such as arcades, crafting, and even an archery experience. While it's possible to keep it cost-free, budget for a meal, souvenirs, or an activity or two.

Dining options abound across the hotels, ranging from quick service bites to sit-down experiences. Favorite spots include Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Olivia’s Cafe at Disney’s Old Key West Resort.

But sometimes the best part of hopping resorts is simply relaxing! From a beach view of the castle at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to a hammock swing at Disney’s Riviera Resort, or a rocking chair by the fire at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge – find the perfect place to unwind.

Running trails or scenic pathways exist for those wishing to explore further, like the trail connecting the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and the Transportation & Ticket Center.

Resort hopping can be as economical or lavish as you desire, ideal for a semi-rest day. However, during peak seasons like Halloween or Christmas/New Year, some hotels might limit access to non-guests. But start from Disney Springs, and you’ve unlocked a treasure trove of hotel exploration!
