In October 2024, Disney unveiled a costly new Lightning Lane service option, but it lacks one major perk!
Looking to reduce wait times on your next Disney World trip? Disney offers add-ons for shorter "Lightning Lanes" at select attractions. However, the priciest option is missing a crucial benefit that might make you reconsider its high cost.
Let's briefly examine the three available Lightning Lane services.
The Lightning Lane Single Pass involves paying per ride to access Lightning Lane for individual high-demand rides. This option is limited to 1-2 top attractions per park with varying prices by date and attraction.
The Lightning Lane Multi Pass lets you skip standby lines at multiple attractions. Guests can select up to 3 Lightning Lanes and continue adding more after using the initial ones. Prices range from $15-$35 depending on date and park.
On October 30th, 2024, Disney introduced an all-inclusive Lightning Lane Premier Pass. It's for guests staying at certain hotels and offers entry to EVERY eligible attraction for a one-time price, eliminating the need to make repeated reservations.
Sounds great, right? But there’s a catch! The Lightning Lane Premier Pass is VERY expensive. Prices can go as high as $449 per person per day at Magic Kingdom.
Despite the cost, it doesn’t include Lightning Lanes for any character meet-and-greets, even with the Premier Pass!
Character meet-and-greet wait times can be lengthy, so if seeing them tops your list, the Premier Pass won't help!
If characters aren't a priority and you're more into rides and shows, the Premier Pass might be worth it if your budget allows. Otherwise, consider using that money for character dining experiences to meet multiple characters while dining.
Character dining restaurants are available in each park and several hotels. Popular choices include Cinderella’s Royal Table, Garden Grill, ‘Ohana, and Chef Mickey’s. Book early as these fill up quickly!
