Who else still shivers at the memory of Disney's It’s Tough To Be a Bug attraction? Glad to hear that the new Tree of Life show, Zootopia: Better Zoogether! (opening November 7th) will leave out the stinging effects, though it promises some intriguing 4D features. Having previewed it, I can share the details on what really goes on inside.
In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, this new Zootopia show has taken over the Tree of Life Theater, previously home to the bug show. I have to admit, some effects caught us by surprise. Spoilers ahead, but if you've experienced It’s Tough To Be a Bug, you know how intense it could be. Their spiders, acid bugs, and that terrifying Hopper animatronic tested even the bravest.
Zootopia: Better Zoogether! keeps its 4D charm but dials back on the shock factor. Expect some water splashes and air bursts, but nothing too startling. There’s one part where something nudges under your seat—it's gentle, unlike its predecessor's back poking. The show also uses bubbles and smoke effects, but without the scares. In fact, you only wear the 3D glasses at specific times, and the heavy 3D is mostly absent, which I appreciated.
The star Clawhauser animatronic is a highlight, and its realistic movement is impressive. Overall, the show lasts about nine minutes and it's perfect for Zootopia fans or anyone needing a break. I enjoyed the watch and believe many will too.
