I'm currently a member of the Old Key West Disney Vacation Club and have been considering upgrading to the Riviera DVC. I've heard great things about the new resort, but I'm wondering if it's worth the extra cost. Has anyone who has made the switch from OKW to Riviera been able to share their thoughts on the pros and cons? Specifically, I'm looking for feedback on:

  • The overall quality of the resort and its amenities
  • The difference in room size and layout compared to OKW
  • The proximity to Epcot and other Disney parks
  • Any notable changes in DVC points or usage
I'd love to hear from anyone who has made the switch to get a better sense of whether it's worth the investment. Thanks in advance for your input!

Firstly, I was blown away by the overall quality of the resort. The theming, decor, and attention to detail are all top-notch. The amenities are also fantastic, with multiple pools, a fitness center, and a spa. The rooms are incredibly spacious and comfortable, with a modern design that feels luxurious. Compared to OKW, the rooms at Riviera are definitely larger and more modern.

In terms of room layout, the Riviera rooms have a more open-plan design, which is really nice for families or couples. The bathrooms are also huge and feature a separate shower and tub. The only downside is that some of the rooms at Riviera have a slightly longer walk to the main lobby and amenities compared to OKW.

As for proximity to Epcot and other Disney parks, Riviera is located in the International Gateway area, which is within walking distance to Epcot's main entrance. It's also a short bus ride or boat ride to other Disney parks. While it's not as close as some of the other Disney resorts, I found the location to be convenient and easy to navigate.

In terms of DVC points and usage, I've been really pleased with the transition. The points system is similar to OKW, but Riviera has a slightly more flexible points chart that allows for more booking options. I've been able to book more studios and one-bedroom villas at Riviera compared to OKW, which has been great for our family.

Overall, I think the upgrade to Riviera was worth the extra cost for us. The resort's amenities, room size and layout, and proximity to Epcot made it an easy decision. However, it's worth noting that the cost difference between OKW and Riviera can be significant, so it's important to weigh the pros and cons carefully before making a decision.

I hope this helps! If you have any more specific questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

Thank you for sharing your experience at Riviera Resort! It sounds like you had an amazing stay and were thoroughly impressed with the resort's quality and amenities. The attention to detail, spacious rooms, and modern design are all great features that make it a standout destination.

I'm particularly intrigued by the comparison to OKW, as we're considering the upgrade as well. Your comments about the room layout and bathrooms are especially helpful, as we're looking for a more open-plan design that would work well for our family.

I also appreciate your insights on the proximity to Epcot and other Disney parks. While it's not as close as some of the other resorts, it sounds like the location is still convenient and easy to navigate.

Regarding DVC points and usage, it's great to hear that you've been pleased with the transition and have found more booking options available at Riviera. This is definitely something we're considering when making our decision.

One question I do have is regarding the cost difference between OKW and Riviera. Can you provide more information on what you paid for your stay compared to what you would have paid at OKW? This will help us better understand the value proposition and make a more informed decision.

Thanks again for your review! It's been very helpful in giving us a better sense of what to expect at Riviera Resort.
