We're almost ready to book our next adventure to Epic Universe, and we can practically taste the excitement!
We've explored nearly every restaurant at Universal Orlando's new park, thanks to a media event and early previews. That said, we recently dined at one spot that was so dark, eerie, and a bit off-putting that we're not sure we’ll be back.
Atmosphere-wise, stepping into Das Stakehaus feels like entering a vampire's lair. With interiors inspired by gothic vampire tales, complete with familiar servants and a super dark ambiance, the restaurant feels like it's straight out of a vampire flick. The theming is spot-on—but is the food?
The menu includes vampirically-named items like Stakes, a Blood Orange Chicken Sandwich, and Carved Staked Steak. However, while the names and presentations impressed, the flavors did not quite hit the mark. Some dishes felt lackluster or downright unappetizing, particularly with decorations like "puffed rice maggots." Is this the ultimate horror-themed dining experience or a miss?
Don't miss out on trying the drinks, though. The Reapers Reserve beer stood out, while the Monocane Mocktail was a fun, glow-in-the-dark treat.
