Happy New Year from Disneyland! We're celebrating Epiphany the best way we know how: with FOOD! After all, we are Disney Food Blog, and that's our specialty. It's not truly New Year's at Disneyland without visiting the Bayou!

Welcome to Tiana's Palace, where you'll find various southern delicacies. Right now, you can try a King Cake here. King Cakes are a traditional New Year’s treat in several cultures, typically made with cinnamon dough, icing, and purple, green, and gold sprinkles. You can grab one at Tiana's Palace for $7.95.

Unfortunately, this dessert was just okay. It was essentially a cake donut with vanilla frosting and a brown sugar-flavored filling. While all the flavors were enjoyable, the cake was pretty dry, making it harder to appreciate. The filling's sweet brown sugar crunch helped with the dryness, but not enough. The frosting had a sweet vanilla taste, and the sprinkles added a hint of lavender and lemon, complementing the vanilla. A fresher version might be more enjoyable.

For King Cake enthusiasts, this might not be exciting, especially since it lacks the little baby that's traditionally hidden inside (symbolizing good luck!). The treat is convenient and shareable, but this year it let us down.

We'll share more updates from Disneyland, Disney World, and beyond, so stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest news!

Will you be trying this festive treat? Let us know in the comments!
