Here at Disney Food Blog, we love a good macaron. No matter the coast or continent, the Disney Parks are macaron experts. What’s not to love about a soft almond cookie filled with sweet icing? So we had to run at light speed to try Disneyland’s newest macaron!

Moonliner Macaron

Alien Pizza Planet at Disneyland is known for its pizza, pasta, and salads, but its new star menu item is neither of those. It’s a macaron cookie!

The Moonliner Macaron is available at Alien Pizza Planet for $8.79. It’s a rocket-shaped macaron shell filled with salted caramel buttercream, chocolate ganache, and brownie pieces. Then it’s topped with a white chocolate Pizza Planet logo. This macaron is adorable – even if we didn’t love the taste, we’d still give it bonus points for how cute it is, but luckily, it tastes even better than it looks!

The macaron itself was chewy, moist, and delicate – the perfect texture! The salted caramel buttercream had a buttery texture with a rich and salty flavor. The chocolate ganache was rich and sweet without overpowering the caramel. We were caught off guard by the mini brownie in the center compared to the brownie pieces the menu listed, since we assumed it would be mixed in or on top of the buttercream, but we still enjoyed the brownie itself.

We loved this macaron. The chocolate flavors were complementary to the caramel without being overpowering. It’s still a caramel-forward dessert with a hint of chocolate. If you’re feeling something more chocolatey, we like their chocolate chip cookie for $5.29.
