Located in Frisco, Texas, this new theme park is all for the kids. Attached to the park, you’ll find the Universal Kids Resort Hotel, which is packed with even more characters and theming. From character meet-and-greets to bunk beds and more, everything is focused around kids — but what about the food?

Inside the hotel, you’ll find Curiosity Cafe, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is going to be the main restaurant at the hotel, and we found ourselves here before we ran to the parks and after a long day in the Texas heat.

There was comfortable seating, and along with the bright colors, we felt like this was going to be your place to sit and relax after a busy day.

Seating

Starting off with breakfast, we grabbed the Classic Breakfast for $10.99, which has eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast.

Classic Breakfast

This is going to be your go-to when you want a simple breakfast you know you’ll enjoy and that will fuel you for a day of riding attractions. We were able to order the eggs how we liked them, and we liked not having to worry about whether we would like them or not.

We couldn’t skip the Curiosity Cafe Sandwich for $9.99 either! It has egg, pepperjack cheese, bacon, crispy onions, and arugula on an oat-topped wheat bun.

Curiosity Cafe Sandwich

This was our favorite during our breakfast! It’s made with ingredients we wouldn’t think about puttin gon a breakfast sandwich, but together, it was amazing. It’s a bit nicer than a traditional breakfast sandwich, and while we got our eggs scrambled, you can opt for your favorite style. The potatoes on the side were seasoned, and while nothing to write home about, they helped fill us up.

For kids, we tried the UKR Mini Waffles for $5.99, which are crispy waffles, maple syrup, berries, and whipped cream.

“And in the morning, I’m making waffles!” But you don’t have to make these yourself! Donkey would definitely approve of these classic waffles that were fun and soft with that great traditional waffle taste. They had the Universal Kids Resort logo on them and came with fruit, whipped cream, and syrup, and once you combine it all together, it’s a perfect bite.

We thought it was convenient to grab breakfast at our hotel before heading straight to the theme park. It opens at 6:30 AM, so we had plenty of time before the park opens, and it’s nice to know that we were fueled and set up for the day. Was it the best hotel breakfast we’ve ever had in our lives? Not really, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t solid options that the whole family can enjoy.

We were also able ot sotp by the resort for dinner. We grabbed the Chicken Tenders for $8.99 off the kids’ menu, which come with BBQ sauce and ranch. The kids’ menu dishes also come with applesauce, apple slices, carrot sticks, or yogurt upon request.

Chicken Tenders

These were good but very thin. Not only was the chicken thin, but so was the breading. While it’s on the kids’ menu, we want to emphasize that adults ordering off the kids’ menu might be a little disappointed with the size. The breading isn’t the classic one we usually see on chicken tenders, but it almost melted in our mouths since it was thin. That said, it’s still a great, comforting choice, and you get three tenders.

We also grabbed the Popping Pepperoni Pizza from the adults’ menu for $10.99, which is an airy pizza crust with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and popping pepperoni.

Popping Pepperoni Pizza

This pizza is giving school lunch but in the best way! It’s nostalgic, and the crust is nice and doughy. Some of the pepperoni was burnt around the edges, which gave it a crunch, but overall, it’s a soft piece of pizza and a solid size.

Fettuccine Carbonara for $12.99 with penne pasta, grilled chicken, tomato cream sauce, and mozzarella cheese was also available.

Fettuccine Carbonara

This bowl of pasta was great, which is no surprise to us. We do wish there was more sauce, but we loved having a carb-heavy dish after a long day walking around the theme park. It fueled us up and hit the spot when you want something comforting and familiar.

We ended with The Curious Bacon Jam Burger for $14.99, which is a 7 oz. Angus beef burger, American cheese, bacon jam, mayo ketchup, lettuce, tomato, and pickles on a brioche bun.

The Curious Bacon Jam Burger

The burger is also a classic with all of your favorites, but with a bacon jam to spice it up! It brought a nice sweetness and catered more to the adults with the fun flavors. It was a bit more pink than we were expecting for a burger, and we wish we had been asked how we liked it cooked. The flavors were there, and there is something about eating a burger during a theme park vacation that is perfectly nostalgic.

For something more adventurous, we went for the Ahi Tuna Salad for $14.99, which is seared tuna with Napa cabbage, kale, carrot, cucumber, radish, snow peas, scallions, red onions, honey sriracha, sweet potatoes, wasabi peas, crunchy chow mein noodles, miso glaze, and furikake seasoning.

Ahi Tuna Salad

We thought this was very fresh, bright, and vibrant! We loved the crunchy noodles and all of the elements put together, including the sauce. The una didn’t have a whole lot of sear or flavor, but we think this was a fun dish that the adults are really going to enjoy.

There was also a bar at the cafe where we picked up the Timeout for Tiki drink. It’s made with dark rum, fruit juices, including pineapple and orange, and grenadine. There was a whole cocktail list to try.

Timeout for Tiki

This was a fun, tropical tiki drink that fit the vacation vibes. It wasn’t too strong, which we enjoyed, and if we wanted to take it out to the pool, they offered to pour it into a plastic cup before we left, since we had to leave the cool glass mug at the restaurant.
