Deciding what to eat during your Disney World vacation can be a daunting task. That's where we come in! Our team tries out all the restaurants and snacks to ensure your trip is nothing short of amazing.
We recently visited Jiko — The Cooking Place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Ready for a full review? See if it deserves a spot on your Disney itinerary.
**Atmosphere**
Jiko is a fine dining spot welcoming everyone, not just those staying at the resort. With its vibrant spices and South African wines, it offers an experience that transports you to Africa. Reservations are a good idea, though sometimes you might get lucky with a walk-in.
**Menu**
The menu is an African flavor journey with exquisite presentations. Whether it's your first time trying these flavors or you're a seasoned fan, you're bound to find something appealing.
**Eats**
We kicked off with the Braai’d Wild Boar Tenderloin, priced at $19. It was so scrumptious, we nearly licked the plate clean! We also enjoyed the giraffe-patterned bread, paired with creamy butter and sea salt. Our entrees were the From the Oak Grill ($62) and Moroccan-spiced Lamb Shank ($51), both offering unique flavors and satisfying portions. To enhance our meal, we tried the Bobotie Mac & Cheese for $17.
**Dessert**
For dessert, the Malva Pudding blew us away with its presentation and balanced sweet flavors, rounding off a fantastic meal.
**Drinks**
We sampled the Shanghai Rose tea for $9.75. While it was fragrant and delicious, its size was a tad disappointing for the price.
**Nosh or Not**
Visit Jiko if you love bold flavors and beautiful presentations in a relaxed setting. Skip it if you're looking for quicker, more traditional meals.
**Overall**
Jiko proves time and again that it's perfect for special occasions with its delightful dishes and ambiance. It's a Disney favorite for a reason!
