Exciting changes are in the works at Magic Kingdom in Disney World! Tomorrowland's Astro Orbiter just got an upgrade, while Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland is undergoing major renovations. We're also looking forward to the new Villains Land being constructed and the arrival of the Cars-themed Piston Peak expansion. Unfortunately, this means some beloved attractions like Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat will close permanently on July 7th.
The new Piston Peak area will bring two new rides, and updates to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad aim to create a seamless transition into this exciting Cars-themed land. However, Disney hasn't revealed when Piston Peak will open, but it seems this transformation will take some time. We can expect Big Thunder Mountain Railroad to return with its updates around 2026.
