This year, flying has undergone significant changes, some unexpected. You won't have to remove your shoes during security checks anymore, and there's potential for adjustments in liquid allowances. Orlando Airport has introduced Family and Honor Lanes for military families. However, a new nationwide airport change is set to hit your wallet if you're missing a REAL ID.

From February 1st, 2026, the TSA will charge travelers without a REAL ID or passport a $45 fee. Originally proposed at $18, the increase aims to modernize the security system, covering administrative and IT costs as highlighted by TSA's Steve Lorincz. Don’t forget, even with an email confirmation, passage isn't guaranteed without a REAL ID, as identity verification remains mandatory.

These updates certainly mark a shift in air travel procedures. What do you think about these changes? Are they justified or too burdensome? Share your thoughts below!
