Getting to Disney World usually means flying into Orlando International Airport, but that’s proving complicated today due to significant delays affecting the airport and surrounding travel in Orlando.

Currently, there are 402 flights delayed at Orlando International Airport, as noted by FlightAware. Southwest Airlines has been hit the hardest, with 150 delayed flights.

The primary cause for these delays is severe weather in the South, leading to storms and thunderstorms. This impacts Southwest significantly since Houston Hobby Airport, a major hub, is also affected. NBC News reports that recent storms have resulted in multiple tornadoes across Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, including an EF-1 tornado near Houston on Thursday.

Storm risks continue through the weekend, including today, December 28th, contributing further to flight delays. As of 11 AM ET, there have been 5,023 flight delays and 175 cancellations nationwide due to these storms.

What should you do? If you're traveling today, make sure your phone is set to receive notifications from your airline. Also, check your airline’s app for up-to-date delay information.
