It's official—the sun is setting on Muppets Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. As we prepare for the arrival of a new Monsters, Inc. land, it’s a bittersweet farewell to this Muppets-themed space. Recently, Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has permanently shut its doors, signaling the changes ahead.
Mama Melrose’s closure has already altered its familiar facade, with windows blacked out—something typical when Disney spotlights are turned elsewhere. No construction noises yet, but changes are definitely on the horizon. The menu board is now blank too, revealing only old labels for "Lunch" and "Dinner".
Even though we’ve humorously dubbed Mama Melrose’s as Disney's version of Olive Garden in the past, its closure marks the impending transformation of the beloved Muppets Courtyard. A demolition permit for a nearby store and upcoming closures of Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo indicate significant updates are underway. All remaining areas will shut down by June 8th as construction walls rise in preparation.
However, the Muppets aren’t disappearing entirely. They’ll be returning with a bang at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Although no timeline for this makeover exists yet, it keeps the Muppets' spirit alive.
As we say goodbye to a nostalgic Disney corner and look ahead to Monstropolis, I’m curious—how do you feel about these changes? Share your thoughts below!
