Picture this: you're strolling past the Germany Pavilion at EPCOT, and you're immediately greeted by the heavenly aroma of caramel drifting from Karamell-Küche. It's no wonder this caramel shop is legendary. Now, if you're anything like me, you'll probably find yourself heading inside for a snack, maybe that irresistible Werther's popcorn or a caramel square or two. But wait, there's something new on the menu that stands out – a treat with no caramel in it at all!
Introducing Mamba Cakes, a nod to the German candy Mamba. You have two flavors to choose from: orange and strawberry lemon. We opted for the Strawberry Lemon Cake for $6.49. Although these aren't on the official menu or the My Disney Experience app yet, they're certainly a peculiarity worth checking out.
The cake itself is quite dense, slightly dry, with a creamy, fluffy frosting. The fruit flavors have an artificial candy-like taste, which may appeal to those who love that sort of flavor. But for us, it doesn't quite hit the mark. We'd honestly prefer other treats at Karamell-Küche if given a choice.
So, what do you think? Would you consider trying this candy-inspired cake or stick to the caramel classics? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
