It's no secret I'm ready to move to Florida. I'm saving and eyeballing a move to Florida as it won't be cheap or easy.

I have a few areas that I would love to move to, and I'm just not sure - so if you live near Disney World or Florida in general, I would love to get your feedback on the areas I'm looking at.

  • Celebration, Florida - This is a no-brainer as to why I chose it, as it's the town that Disney built, but it comes with a high price tag.
  • Winter Garden - It's a nice community, with a beautiful downtown, and its not far from the Magic Kingdom.
  • Horizon West - it's an up a coming location, that offers a GREAT location and value, currently again being just west of Magic Kingdom.
  • Oakland Park - I guess this would almost call into Winter Garden as they are next to each other, and you can take a golf cart to the downtown Winter Garden.
  • Clermont - This is probably the best bang for your buck so far, as it has lots of growth, new builds but still less than 30 minutes from the tourist areas.
  • Baldwin Park - This is modeled after Celebration, Florida - with a lot of the same builders, closer to Winter Park which was a beautiful downtown that we went by when we took the Amtrak train to Orlando.
Places we aren't considering
  • Windemere, Florida - Mostly due to the price
  • Dr. Philips - again price
  • Kississimme - This is a high short term rental area, and crime is higher than I'd like
  • Davenport - Not crazy about it being so far out, and the traffic is horrible getting to and from on the I-4
Florida has a to offer - especially with the outdoor experiences, just less than an hour away, we were riding horses, fan boats, and mudboggers.

My main targets will be for a great school district as we are expecting our first, and lower crime rate. Which concerns me about Celebration, as it has some questionable parts
