Is purchasing DVC worth it?

I’m interested in DVC as we go about every other year for about a week or so.

Is DVC a time share? It appears to be like the only time share that you can actually resell if you wanted to.

Is anyone else a DVC member here?

We aren't members, but we are renting points to the Riveria resort this December. I think it makes sense for us, as we go down so frequently.

I've never rented points, but I don't think time shares in general are worth it. Disney's time share has been the only exception, but doesn't mean I'd buy it.

For us, it was a no-brainer to purchase. We love staying at the Disney Vacation Club and a few of the perks as well.

Some folks haven't mentioned the perks
  • Access exclusive lounges (e.g., Epcot Member Lounge, Top of the World Lounge). (nice place to go during the heat.)
  • Discounts on recreational activities (e.g., golf, fishing, horseback riding, spa services).
  • Special member-only events (e.g., Moonlight Magic).
  • Exclusive booking opportunities at member resorts and exchange programs.
