Theme parks are our passion!
We practically live at Disney World and Universal; they feel like our home away from home! Our love for theme parks even became our career, so we couldn't contain our excitement when we discovered a college is hosting a theme park design competition. Interested? Let's see if you can join in too!
Have you ever wished studying was all about theme parks? Now's your chance! Ringling College of Art and Design is hosting a unique high school theme park design contest. They're looking for the next great designer.
Here's the scoop: this is the inaugural competition, and it's open to every U.S. high school junior and senior. It runs from September 1st to November 30th.
Participants must design a mobile merchandise cart for outdoor use at a theme park. The designs will be evaluated by a panel including experts from Ringling College of Art and Design, Universal Creative, and entertainment design professionals.
The big prize? A $20,000 tuition to Ringling College and an exclusive VIP tour at Universal Studios Florida, with travel and hotel covered. Plus, other prizes for second and third places, including scholarships for the college's PreCollege Summer Program. Judging wraps up in December 2025, with winners announced January 2026.
Jamie DeRuyter from Ringling College hopes this inspires students to envision themselves in immersive experience design and highlights the significance of such skills beyond just theme parks.
Eliza Lee from Universal Creative expressed pride in collaborating on this competition to encourage students to think creatively, solve problems, and bring unique ideas to life.
We’re thrilled to see what the students come up with and wish them the best of luck! What are your thoughts on this amazing opportunity? Would you like to join? Share your ideas with us!
