While Disney World is best known for world-class attractions, food, and hotels, the heart and soul of the resort has always been — and will always be — its Cast Members. They make the magic after all.

According to the Cast Members on our team, there are multiple things the former CMs on our team wish guests would know BEFORE their next trip to the “Most Magical Place on Earth.

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

“You’re Not Going to be Able to Do EVERYTHING”

No matter how much you plan, book, reserve, and time out, you won’t be able to do EVERY single thing at the resort — with its 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, 25+ hotels, shopping district, mini-golf courses, and more — over the course of one standard Walt Disney World vacation. Instead of trying, make some time for yourself to take it all in, and maybe even relax on your vacation.

“Not Every Cast Member Has 100% Up-To-Date Information.”

While Cast Members around the resort will surely be willing to help you, not every Cast Member is going to know everything that is happening at any given moment, nor about upcoming projects. After all, things at the resort can change daily for a litany of reasons, and sometimes — with as frequently as Disney drops news — things can be a lot to keep up with, especially if your question doesn’t directly apply to their role.

“Cast Members WANT to Help You, Don’t be Rude to Them”

While they might not know everything, pretty much every Disney World Cast Member is going to want to help you as best they can. However, sometimes there’s nothing they can do. Please keep in mind, as frustrating as a “no” might be, no Cast Member is purposely trying to ruin your day, so please don’t be rude or take it out on them.

“You Don’t Have to Overspend”

Look, it’s no secret that a Disney World vacation is a huge expense. However, you don’t need to go financially BIG with everything, nor have the fanciest meals, Lightning Lanes, or the largest hotel room to have a great time.

For example, you can always opt for quick service meals or bring your own food into the park. Depending on your plans, you likely won’t even spend that much time at your hotel, and you can always resort hop to other hotels to explore. You can prioritize rides and spend time exploring the parks, versus feeling like you have to ride every attraction. As hard as it might be, you don’t have to spend hundreds on Disney merchandise, either, instead sticking to a souvenir budget. Which leads to:

“There Isn’t ONE Right Way to Do Disney”

While there’s plenty of advice out there — including our own here at Magical Guides, like our restaurant guide, which breaks down every eatery on Disney property — the reality is that every Disney World guest is different. Not everyone needs to rope drop the same park, ride the same attractions, eat at the same restaurants, or buy the same merchandise. Of course, you should do your research and stay informed and be prepared, but never feel pressured to do anything but what you WANT to do at Disney World.

Happily Ever After
