We've eagerly awaited Shrek 5 for 15 years (can you believe it’s been that long since the previous film?), and we've finally gotten a taste of the next adventure!
Universal Pictures has just unleashed the trailer for Shrek 5. Did you notice who’s back in action?
The movie is set to hit theaters Christmas 2026, a whole 15 years since Shrek Forever After in 2010. Returning are Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy! Plus, the film introduces Zendaya as Shrek's daughter, Felicia.
At the close of Shrek the Third, Shrek and Fiona had a trio of bundles of joy: two boys and a girl. We don’t know who's voicing the boys yet, but it's a delightful surprise to see Zendaya in the mix. We’ll see Felicia navigating her teenage years, and it turns out ogre teens are just as rebellious as human teens!
Oh, and let's not forget the JOKES. Universal nods to those Gen Z Shrek memes, proving that even Shrek's swamp isn't safe from the web's humor.
Zendaya's fame skyrocketed from her Disney Channel days and now includes roles in Challengers, Spider-Man, Dune, and HBO’s Euphoria.
In theme parks, Shrek's gotten quite the tribute. Despite the closure of Shrek 4-D, his presence at the parks remains strong, with themed snacks and attractions like the Shrekzel, the ogre-styled pretzel.
