I go to Disney World monthly, and sometimes I go multiple times per month.
I'm lucky to work remotely and have family living in Celebration, Florida. Literally, they live less than 10 minutes from EPCOT's parking lot.
So, my biggest concern is getting to Orlando International Airport (MCO). So when I see Frontier offering $19 or $50 round trip tickets I check my schedule immediately.
Sometimes I'm down in Disney at 7am, and I'm back for breakfast the next day. These are sometimes short flights. Sometimes I stay down there for a few more days if I choose to, but my thing is around the cost. I know some people HATE flying Frontier...but I love the opportunity they give me travel at my speed, and budget.
What's it like flying an ultra low cost carrier like Frontier?
Let's be real, it's basically having jumping on a bus or train somewhere. There aren't frills like the cookies with their logo on there or even free soft drinks...it's a seat and safe landing at your destination. When we have to go somewhere and are need to be there by a certain date, if Frontier cancels the flight we will have to rebook on another airline.
Do they charge you for everything?
Frontier charges you things like checked bags, carryons and even where you sit. They started offering a "big front seat" where the first two rows have a middle seat blocked out for them, and they charge like $70 extra to guarantee you have no one sitting next to you. I opted for Bayley to enjoy this as she was traveling alone once, and being pregnant, she didn't want anyone to be in the way of her snacks or going to the bathroom. For me, I avoid this luxury.
However, I could see if you're a passenger that wants some extra room, it could be beneficial.
Now bags are something people talk about all the time. If you're going for 24 hours or such do you really need a full carry on? I don't think so...but that's just me. You are allowed a personal item like purse or small bag, but it must fit into their bag checkers and they are notorious for checking.
Pro tip: bring a garbage bag and fill your stuff into if they call you out on the bag...as they will fit. It just might be "tacky".
Sometimes Frontier offers free bags, not sure why but they do.
I'm into Orlando in less than an hour and I'm on my way to one of the parks almost in time for Rope Drop. So that means I'm usually dressed for whatever I'm about to tackle for the day. Literally was going to meet friends at the water park so I wore my trunks onto the plane, and got a comment from the Flight Attendant that I was ready to party.
In this pic I show the leg room on Frontier for a male that is 6'1" and about 240lbs.
Have you flown Frontier? How has your experience been?
