We have over 400 points and still find ourselves running out because we like to host friends and family on some of our trips down to WDW. Usually, we host our daughter and her husband in January every 2 years, so we get a 2BR unit which eats points. We have had as many as 11 in our group, so 3 bedrooms and couch sleeping required - more points. We like sharing our Disney fun. When the wife and I go down by ourselves, we like having the full kitchen and laundry facilities in our room, so at a minimum, we get a 1-bedroom since the studios don't have a washer/dryer or full kitchen. Because we live 1100 miles from Orlando to the North, we can't just hop in the car and head down on a whim. So, we try to take 2 trips a year and spend 8-10 days on each trip. Points get eaten up quickly, so we find ourselves borrowing from the next year pretty regularly. Every now and then, we just take one trip and save the points to catch up from the last borrowing episode. Don't want any more points because the maintenance fees are pretty high already. We have been DVC members since 2003 and our contract is for 50 years, so I will be 106 years old when it runs out. Hopefully, I will still be alive to enjoy my last day with Mickey. I would find it hard to give up my points because I really enjoy our trips down there where I feel safe at night on property, most everyone is smiling, I can wear my Mickey ears and Goofy t-shirt without feeling embarrassed, and there is always something fun to see and do that is different from our everyday lives up North.
