Disney recently revealed a movie project poised to be a box office success!
The Walt Disney Company is partnering with BBC Studios for the first-ever Bluey movie! Based on the popular Australian animated series, the film is set to premiere in theaters worldwide in 2027 and later stream on Disney+. It will also be available on ABC iview and ABC Kids in Australia after its theatrical run.
After the success of the long-format episode "The Sign," creator Joe Brumm was inspired to write and direct the theatrical version of Bluey. The film will feature the original voice cast, including Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack, with music by composer Joff Bush.
According to the official press release, “The CG animated film will be produced by award-winning animation producer Amber Naismith (‘Happy Feet’, ‘The Lego Movie’, ‘The Lego Batman Movie’) with Richard Jeffery co-directing.’ Joe Brumm will serve as executive producer along with Charlie Aspinwall, Daley Pearson from Ludo Studio, and Justine Flynn for BBC Studios.”
But wait, there’s more Bluey news! Beginning January 2025, guests sailing on Disney Cruise Line from Australia and New Zealand will have the chance to meet Bluey and Bingo! There will be special meet-and-greets and an interactive game culminating in a dance party.
The excitement continues as Bluey and her family will also be part of park meet-and-greets at Disney World and Disneyland!
While specifics are still under wraps, we anticipate more details in the coming months. Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro stated, “Bluey has become a household name worldwide, and we are thrilled to bring her story to life in new ways. We can’t wait for our youngest guests and their families to create memories with Bluey in our parks and on our cruises.”
Disney World
December brought other theme-park news as well, notably updates about the Disney’s Animal Kingdom transformation.
Disney World is moving ahead with its Tropical Americas land while revamping Dinoland USA. This will include replacing the DINOSAUR ride with a new Indiana Jones attraction. Disney has now provided a timeline for the closure of DINOSAUR.
According to Disney, guests will have a full year to ride DINOSAUR before it shuts down after 2025. Although details are sparse, Disney humorously noted, “2025 is your year to visit before it goes extinct!”
Disney Cruise Line
Before you can meet Bluey on the [URL='https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/setting-sail-with-disney-cruise-line/']Disney Cruise Line, something big has launched—it’s already here!
The Disney Treasure cruise ship made its maiden voyage on December 21st, and we had an early preview this month!
This ship is the latest addition to a fleet that is set to expand to 13 ships by 2031.
These announcements this month were thrilling, and we eagerly anticipate what the new year holds! Stay tuned at DFB for the latest Disney news, tips, and more!
