Muppet*Vision 3D is officially closed, and Disney is swiftly paving the way for the future!
New walls have been put up, and Disney's already teasing fresh concept art for Monstropolis, a new Monsters, Inc.-themed zone replacing the Muppets.
Disney has unveiled three concept art images showing us glimpses of Monstropolis. The first reveals a unique Monsters, Inc. roller coaster, offering a thrilling ride like the hanging doors from the movie.
The other two images seem reminiscent of Muppets Courtyard and Animation Courtyard, as Disney was deciding on a location within Hollywood Studios.
Interestingly, the new concept art resembles the original Muppets area. The Muppet*Vision Theater remains, now featuring a sign reading "The GLOB," possibly hinting at a new comedy show.
The former PizzaRizzo appears unchanged and might continue as a quick-service spot. Meanwhile, Mama Melrose’s location is being transformed into Harryhausen’s, the Japanese restaurant from the film.
Behind this area, a backstage expansion is paving the way for the new roller coaster. Additionally, the beloved Miss Piggy fountain is staying, though its location might shift.
A playground under colorful awnings is still in the plans, adding to the city-like atmosphere that harks back to the initial concept.
While we're uncertain of Monstropolis' debut date, it’s exciting to see Mike and Sulley stepping in. Though we're saying goodbye to the Muppets, this transformation looks promising. For updates, keep following Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news!
