In the past year, Disney has been announcing exciting updates about Disney World and Disneyland expansions. We've heard news about a new Cars area with two rides at Magic Kingdom and a Villains land. Additionally, Pueblo Esperanza is set to replace DinoLand, U.S.A. at Animal Kingdom. Meanwhile, Hollywood Studios will welcome a Monsters, Inc. themed area, with a new Monsters, Inc. attraction replacing the Muppets Courtyard. The Avengers Campus at Disneyland is also expanding with two new rides.
During the South by Southwest (SXSW) event in Austin, TX, Disney revealed even more thrilling projects! Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro and Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman shared updates at a panel on world-building.
Significant updates include enhancements to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run in celebration of The Mandalorian and Grogu movie release in 2026. The Cars and Monsters, Inc. expansions are taking innovative approaches with ride technology. We also have the eagerly anticipated Avengers Campus expansion, featuring Stark Flight Lab, where Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his Tony Stark role. Plus, the Fantastic Four characters will be making their way to Disneyland, and those adorable BDX droids will soon appear in Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris.
I’m thrilled about these new developments! Personally, I'm most looking forward to seeing the iconic Monsters, Inc. door scene come to life as a ride. What about you? Which new attraction are you excited to explore? Share your thoughts!
