The Walt Disney Company has announced changes to its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) standards, sparking mixed reactions among employees. Chief Human Resources Officer Sonia Coleman outlined the updates in a note on February 11th. Some staff members expressed dissent, claiming the changes align with anti-DEI policies proposed by the current U.S. President Donald Trump, who has campaigned to eliminate DEI initiatives nationwide.

One employee likened the situation to "Chapek on steroids," referring to past controversies under former CEO Bob Chapek. In 2022, Chapek faced backlash over Florida's Parental Rights in Education Act when employees felt he initially failed to oppose the legislation effectively. An insider remarked, "We must ask ourselves, what's next? Who do we stand for now?"

Moreover, some employees are embarrassed by Disney's public apology and the company's $15 million payment to Trump's foundation as part of a legal settlement. Concerns also rise over the removal of a transgender storyline from an upcoming Pixar series on Disney+, titled "Win or Lose." According to Deadline, many Disney insiders feel the company is opting to appeal to conservatives instead of taking a strong stance on important issues.
