On May 5th, Disneyland Park honored firefighters Mark McLean and Larry Chu, along with other first responders who fought the LA fires in January 2025. This event also marked the first day these heroes could use their special Heroes Tickets for Disneyland Resort.

Mark and Larry, part of the Disneyland Fire Department, had also been instrumental in battling the fires alongside their local fire stations. Larry, reflecting on the recognition, noted, "It’s humbling and feels cool to be honored," expressing how unusual it is for them to be in the spotlight. Mark, following a family tradition as a Disneyland firefighter, downplayed the hero label, sharing, "We don't think of ourselves as heroes; it’s just a profession we enjoy."

In addition to celebrating these brave individuals, Disney announced a commitment of $15 million towards relief efforts in the Los Angeles area.

If you're planning a visit, Disneyland's 70th Anniversary Celebration is coming up on May 16th, 2025, promising an array of new attractions, returning favorites, and exclusive merchandise. It’s an exciting time to experience the park, with new restaurants and stores on the horizon as well.

What's your take on the way Disneyland is recognizing these first responders? Would you be interested in visiting during the anniversary celebrations? Share your thoughts!
