The Japan Pavilion at EPCOT has always been a hidden gem, and right now it’s having a serious moment.
Japan Pavilion
If you haven’t been to World Showcase lately, you might not know that the Japan Pavilion has picked up some really fun offerings that Disney Adults are absolutely running with. From collectible machines to personalized keepsakes, there are a couple of trends taking off that we think are worth knowing about before your next trip. Let’s break it down!
If you’ve spent any time learning about Japanese culture, you’ve probably heard of gachapon. These are capsule vending machines that dispense small collectible toys, and they’re hugely popular in Japan. Well, now you don’t have to book a flight to Tokyo to try your luck, because a dedicated spot called Gachapon Corner has popped up right in the Japan Pavilion.

In the Japan Pavilion
There’s a whole section of these machines now, stocked with collectibles ranging from Kirby to Ultraman and beyond. A big screen nearby helps you make your selection, and the whole setup is cashless, so there’s no fumbling around for coins. The prices run somewhere between $9 and $15, with most landing around $12, so it’s not exactly a cheap thrill, but it’s a really unique experience you won’t find anywhere else at Walt Disney World.

Mystery time!
Honestly, even if you don’t end up pulling a collectible yourself, it’s worth swinging by just to watch the excitement of other guests trying their luck. It’s one of those additions that feels genuinely special for the pavilion, and we’re really hoping it’s here to stay.
If you’ve ever wandered through Mitsukoshi, you know it’s one of the best stores in all of World Showcase. Anime merch, Japanese snacks, beautiful home goods, all packed into one incredible space. But here’s something a lot of people are sleeping on: you can get a fan personalized right there in the store.
The fan
Mitsukoshi carries a gorgeous selection of Japanese fans, and a sign near the merchandise lets you know that personalization is available if you just ask at any of the checkout registers. It’s a really affordable souvenir option that also doubles as something genuinely useful the second you step back out into that Florida heat.
Cast Member customizing our fan
Disney Adults have been catching onto this one, and honestly, it tracks. A personalized fan is a beautiful, functional keepsake that you can actually use and display, and it’s the kind of thing your friends back home will think you found on an actual trip to Japan.
Our fan!
Between mystery capsule machines and customized souvenirs, the Japan Pavilion continues to surprise us with fun little experiences that go beyond just shopping. And if these trends keep growing, we have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more Disney Adults walking around EPCOT with tiny capsules and personalized fans in hand.
