The "Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind" ride at Walt Disney World could be the most loved attraction currently. Since switching to a standard standby line earlier this year, it has consistently topped the resort's weekly wait time charts. This attraction is among the most technologically advanced rides Disney has ever constructed.
Launching in May 2022, this ride takes inspiration from the beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise. When Guardians of the Galaxy made the jump to Disney’s California Adventure with Mission Breakout in 2017, the excitement for Cosmic Rewind only grew, officially announced as a replacement for Ellen’s Energy Adventure at EPCOT.
This indoor coaster uniquely mimics space flight with its innovative ride system, marking EPCOT’s first roller coaster and Disney’s first with a backward launch. The ride integrates the classic OmniMover system with a roller coaster, utilizing yaw rotation to enhance the thrilling space travel sensation.
Featuring appearances from major franchise stars like Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldaña, plus a new character Centurion Tal Marik played by Terry Crews, the ride offers fans something fresh. Although Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel don’t reprise their voice roles, the ride doesn’t skimp on nostalgia with its ’70s and ’80s rock and pop soundtrack.
