Universal… what are you doing right now? The theme park is already working on updates to Epic Universe, and construction has been ongoing for months on a majorly secretive project.

Now, thanks to a very ominous post over on X, we think a major Universal announcement is headed our way! Buckle up and be prepared to get furious (this will make more sense in just a moment).
We think it’s about to be all about family over at Universal Studios! Universal has been keeping us on our toes lately, and now their latest post on social media has us wondering if a major announcement is headed our way. The post included a video of what seems to be a speedometer that eventually lands on the numbers 012026. In the caption, the theme park giant wrote 01.20.26.
Does this imply we’re getting a major announcement on January 20th? We’re ready to take it a step further and guess that this might just be connected to the Fast and Furious franchise, thanks to the speedometer hint! What exactly could this hint at, along with the films? We have a few ideas. First, Universal closed one of its biggest coasters in August 2025 and has yet to reveal its replacement.
Rip Ride Rockit before it was demolished
Rip Ride Rockit has since been demolished, but permits for the area have hinted at a two-story structure that will pop up in this spot. We’ve been keeping up with construction in this area thanks to Bioreconstruct over on X. The most recent photos from January 2026 show some big changes to the area, like a new foundation.

They’ve also started digging down to make even more room for the new structure. This photo in particular shows footers for track spurs in the service building.

You can see a lot of Team Members are hard at work on this major project! It’s become clear that the new attraction will be a roller coaster, which is another reason we think this project could be connected to the Fast and Furious.

How do we know that? Well, right now Universal Studios Hollywood is currently developing the Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster, which is opening in 2026. This new attraction is also leading to the permanent closure of Fast & Furious – Supercharged in the California theme park. We really think there’s a world where this brand-new coaster might just be debuting in Orlando in the future.

These new construction photos, along with this announcement teaser, really have us convinced something big is coming soon! We won’t know officially until tomorrow what this teaser is about, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed. Currently, the park only has two thrill attractions, Escape from Gringotts and Revenge of the Mummy, which many would argue are really huge thrills compared to Rip Ride Rockit. Whatever this new attraction will be, it’s got some big tracks to fill! You can read more news from Universal right here.
