As an Orlando local who adores theme parks, that's one of the main reasons I moved here. While Disney World holds a special place in my heart, many are overlooking Universal Orlando.
Universal Orlando
I understand this is the Disney Food Blog, and Universal isn't Disney-related. But I strongly suggest you carve out a day or two for Universal Orlando on your next trip to Disney World.
I'm not saying to skip Disney World for Universal Orlando, but consider fitting in a visit to Universal during your vacation. If you haven't been to Universal yet, that means you could enjoy TWO NEW theme parks for the first time. Universal Orlando has two parks, Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios, conveniently connected by Universal CityWalk (similar to a mini-Disney Springs) and the Hogwarts Express.

While Universal Orlando focuses more on thrill rides, I think you'll still enjoy their theme parks, even if thrill rides aren't your preference. Many reasons lead me to renew my Universal Orlando Annual Pass yearly, but I’ll share just 5 reasons to visit Universal Orlando.
Universal’s Islands of Adventure
1. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: If you love theming or are a Harry Potter fan, this should convince you to visit Universal Orlando. The details in both Wizarding World areas are AMAZING. You’ll feel immersed in the Harry Potter universe, with plenty to explore, from wand shopping to sipping Butterbeer and enjoying attractions. I’ve visited Universal just to walk around Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade.

2. Get ready for exciting thrill rides: Universal excels in providing fantastic thrill rides. While Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT is my favorite, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, Jurassic World VelociCoaster, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, and Revenge of the Mummy come close behind.

3. Experience beloved movies in new ways: Disney has many iconic films, but Universal also significantly impacts the movie industry. Like Disney, Universal utilizes its IPs in their parks, allowing you to experience movies uniquely. Ride a bike through E.T.'s world, enjoy an amusing ride in The Simpsons, or navigate through Jurassic Park.

4. Enjoy fantastic entertainment: One of my favorite shows is at Universal Studios. While I wouldn’t pay JUST to see it, it’s a must-see! The Bourne Stuntacular is an amazing stunt show. I’ve seen it multiple times and still find it impressive! Other favorites include Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show and Animal Actors on Location! The Universal Mega Movie Parade features incredible floats showcasing classic films and a variety of performers throughout the park. Don't miss stopping by The Knight Bus or The Mystic Fountain for a laugh.

5. Add variety to your trip: As a local, I often switch between theme parks, making things more exciting. I love the different vibes each park offers. Universal Orlando provides a distinct experience compared to Disney World, and I believe you’ll discover new favorites, feeling regret for not exploring them sooner.

These are just a few of my favorite reasons to visit Universal Orlando! The details in the parks are fantastic, and the attractions are top-notch. I could discuss many more reasons to check out Universal Orlando, including their special events like Mardi Gras, Christmas, and Halloween Horror Nights.
