Disney's Hollywood Studios is undergoing some exciting updates, but it's time to chat about Star Tours—a ride that seems a bit out of place today.
From big transformations like the Muppets Courtyard turning into Monsters, Inc. Land to the upcoming Rock 'n' Roller Coaster re-theme, it's clear Disney is leaning into new changes at Hollywood Studios. This raises the question—what's the future of Star Tours? Could it be next on the transformation list?
When Star Tours launched in 1989, it was groundbreaking. Although Galaxy’s Edge wasn’t even imagined then, today, the ride feels disconnected from the rest of Hollywood Studios, located in the Echo Lake area instead of within Galaxy's Edge. With other Star Wars attractions like Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Rise of the Resistance already highlights of Galaxy’s Edge, does Star Tours still fit in?
We can't predict the future, but having seen similar shifts in focus within the park, it's possible that Star Tours might be phased out. Alternatively, Disney could keep it relevant by updating it, as they've done in the past. Yet, if it doesn't align with the park's evolving vision, does it warrant staying?
If Star Tours does eventually make its exit, what would you like to see replace it? Could a new franchise take over that space? Hollywood Studios’ Echo Lake area could become entirely re-themed, leading to endless possibilities.
As it stands, Star Tours continues to operate, without any official word from Disney on potential plans. However, when big changes surround a ride, it often signals a significant shift may be on the horizon. What are your thoughts? Should Disney preserve Star Tours, or is it time for something new?
