Happy New Year!

New Year's Eve fireworks

The holiday season at Walt Disney World is incredibly busy, featuring events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Jollywood Nights, and EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays, including Candlelight Processional performances. The festivities peak on New Year’s Day! We visited Magic Kingdom on January 1st, 2025, to check out the crowd situation.

Early in the day, the crowds at Magic Kingdom weren't as overwhelming as anticipated.

However, Pirates of the Caribbean was closed, and the My Disney Experience app showed that Space Mountain was also temporarily down.

In Frontierland, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad had just a 45-minute wait—a surprise since it's New Year’s Day and the ride is scheduled to close on January 6th, reopening in 2026.

Big Thunder was only a 45-minute wait!

In Tomorrowland, we were pleased to see Space Mountain reopen, and by early afternoon, all attractions were operational again.

Overall, the crowds and wait times at Magic Kingdom were better than expected compared to New Year's Eve.
