Planning for your Disney World getaway? We strive to keep you informed about any closures that might affect your trip! Disney typically alerts us ahead of time about planned closures, but surprises can still happen. Rides might experience technical issues, and weather can temporarily halt some activities.
While you can't control the unexpected, being aware of scheduled closures can help you plan better. Here’s an overview of what will be closed at Disney World from May 17th to May 24th:
**Magic Kingdom:**
- **Dumbo the Flying Elephant Playground:** Closed for refurbishment since February 2025, reopening in Spring.
- **Hall of Presidents:** Closed from January, expected to open later in 2025.
- **Astro Orbiter:** Temporarily closed for refurbishments, reopening planned for summer 2025.
- **Big Thunder Mountain Railroad:** Closed since January 6th, reopening in 2026 with new features.
- **Tomorrowland Terrace & Tortuga Tavern:** Seasonal closures, used occasionally for special events.
**EPCOT:**
- **Test Track:** Closed for makeover from June 2024, reopening late summer 2025.
**Animal Kingdom:**
- **It’s Tough to Be a Bug:** Permanently closed, replaced by “Zootopia: Better Zoogether” from winter 2025.
- **DinoLand U.S.A.:** Various attractions closed to make way for a new themed area.
**Hollywood Studios:**
- **Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy:** Closed on October 2024, making space for a Villains show starting in May 2025.
- **Voyage of the Little Mermaid:** Currently closed, with a new show debuting in May 2025.
**Disney Springs:**
- **Starbucks on the West Side:** Temporarily closed, set to reopen mid-summer.
**Blizzard Beach:** Closed for refurbishment but reopening alongside Typhoon Lagoon starting May 21st.
