In case you missed it, a NEW Universal resort is opening in the United States!
Universal Kids Resort
The resort was first announced in 2023, and we’ve followed along for every step of its development. Now, after years of waiting, we are only ONE MONTH away from the resort’s opening date! Here’s everything we know ahead of the big day.
On July 1st, the Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas, will officially be open! This new theme park is going to be decked out in classic Universal IP like SpongeBob SquarePants, Shrek, Trolls, Grabby’s Dollhouse, and more. Previously, the company confirmed the new park will have 31 new attractions, rides, shows, meet and greets, and more for kids and families to experience.

This theme park is intended for younger guests, and it will be smaller in scale compared to the other Universal theme parks. The attractions will have lower height requirements, gentler ride profiles, and immersive environments that feel approachable rather than overwhelming for those of a younger age or who might want to test out theme parks for the first time.
The new hotel!
The new park will have tons of rides, but one of the most notable is Shrek and Fiona’s Happily Ogre After! It’s a family ride that takes guests through the love story of an ogre and a princess, which is a pretty famous story these days. The Shrek area will also have a splash pad called Shrek’s Swamp Splash and Smash for a fun way to cool off.

In Bikini Bottom, you’ll see Jellyfish Fields Jamboree, which is a floating ride that has guests catching jellyfish with SpongeBob! The Barnacle Bus will give guests a slow sightseeing tour of the famous town. Plus, you can also find a spinning ride called Bobbing Barrels and Mrs. Puff’s Boating School, where you can get behind the wheel of an undersea vehicle. You can also find meet and greets and more splash pads in this area!

Is it really a Universal property without SOME mention of the Minions? We think no! Luckily, there’s plenty of those little guys to go around in the new park. In the Minion vs Minion section of the park, guests can find Bello Bay Cruise, a rapids ride that drops guests into the middle of the chaos, and Bello Bay Golf Cart Derby, a spinning vehicle ride built around a runaway golf game.

Guests can also meet raptors, find sensory gardens, dance with Trolls, fly high in the sky, and SO much more. The resort will also have an on-site hotel, so you never have to leave the action. Universal has already confirmed ticket prices for the new resort if you want to check it out now! We can’t wait to check out the new theme park when it finally opens on July 1st. Be sure to keep following DisneyFoodBlog for more theme park news, updates, and more.
