As 2024 comes to a close, to say it’s been a wild year for Disney World is an understatement. We've seen announcements like the new nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom, the debut of a Villains-themed show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the introduction of a Pirates of the Caribbean Tavern, and a revamped Test Track at EPCOT. Yet, not all news was enchanting.
Of course, not everything at the "Most Magical Place on Earth" shines bright. We've compiled some of the year's most unsettling surprises at Disney World.
Waffle Woes: Changes at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments left us yearning for non-Mickey waffles with fruit and chocolate toppings.
Chicken Tendie Terror: Columbia Harbour House teased us, bringing back hush puppies after complaints, but shrinking portion sizes on the beloved Trio Platter without reducing the price.
Plastic Cheese Chronicles: While we’re not under illusions about healthiness, discovering the high sodium content in a 1/4 cup of plastic cheese was a sobering reminder.
Muppets Erasure: Disney announced Muppets Courtyard's closure for a Monsters Inc. Land, briefly soothing fans with a Muppets-themed Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster but raising concerns about long-term presence.
Actual Dead Bodies: Perhaps the most shocking revelation was the use of Disney hotel ballrooms for medical conferences featuring cadavers, a fact that tops our list of disturbing events this year.
